چکیده

Sodium and chloride are essential for numerous processes in the body including the regulation of osmotic pressure and acid-base balance. Both sodium and chloride also play important roles in the digestion and absorption of several nutrients from the gastrointestinal tract. Absorption of glucose and most amino acids from the small intestine requires an adequate supply of sodium. In cattle, magnesium absorption from the rumen is dependent on sodium. Chloride is necessary for the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach of simple stomach animals and the abomasum of ruminants. Hydrochloric acid is required for the digestion and absorption of many nutrients.

Arsenic and antimony determination in refined and unrefined table salts by means of hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometry–comparison of sample decomposition and determination methods

An evaluation was made of different digestion methods for the determination of arsenic and antimony in table salt samples prior to hydride generation atomic absorption spectrometric analysis. Microwave acid digestion, classical wet digestion, dry ashing, and fusion were applied to the decomposition of salt samples and optimum conditions were investigated. Samples were decomposed by changing hea...

Salt Tolerance in Rice Cultivars and Changes in Sodium and Potassium Ions

Salinity is an environmental stress that limits growth and development in plants. Due to high salinity in Khuzestan soils it is necessary to identify cultivars with appropriate yield that are compatible with Khuzestan conditions. This experiment was done to evaluate three rice cultivars for salinity tolerance at seedling stage by measuring the absorption of sodium and potassium ions and the rat...

Pig Slurry Treatment Strategy in a High Livestock Concentration Area: Anaerobic Digestion as the Key Process

A pig slurry treatment strategy must include processes with the aim of reducing volatile organic compound emissions, controlling odours, mineralising nutrients, improving its fertilising proprieties, and recovering energy, when it is possible. In this sense, anaerobic digestion fulfils all this requirements. However, in areas with high animal farming density and a structural nutrient surplus, i...

High-Salt Diet Has a Certain Impact on Protein Digestion and Gut Microbiota: A Sequencing and Proteome Combined Study

High-salt diet has been considered to cause health problems, but it is still less known how high-salt diet affects gut microbiota, protein digestion, and passage in the digestive tract. In this study, C57BL/6J mice were fed low- or high-salt diets (0.25 vs. 3.15% NaCl) for 8 weeks, and then gut contents and feces were collected. Fecal microbiota was identified by sequencing the V4 region of 16S...

The Intraluminal Phase of Fat Digestion in Man: the Lipid Content of the Micellar and Oil Phases of Intestinal Content Obtained during Fat Digestion and Absorption.

For nearly a century, it has been known that dietary triglyceride is hydrolyzed in the small intestinal lumen by pancreatic lipase. Early workers had shown the presence of fatty acid (believed to be largely present as paraffin chain soap) in intestinal content after the ingestion of fat. At the turn of the century, the field of fat absorption was dominated by Pfliiger, who staunchly defended th...
